The ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) of the Ministry of Defence on 12 January 2026 at the College House premises. The agreement was signed between the Director General of the CDRD, on behalf of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´, marking a significant step towards strengthening collaboration in research and innovation.
This MOU aims to promote joint research and development activities of mutual interest, aligned with the respective objectives and priorities of both institutions. Under the agreement, the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ and the CDRD will collaborate in identifying opportunities for technical consultancy, cooperative research and development, technical training, and technology development initiatives.
Both parties will explore avenues to share specialist technical expertise through project consultancies, research and development project implementation, training programs, and technology-driven initiatives. Specific activities and terms will be defined through separate agreements prior to implementation, ensuring effective coordination and successful outcomes.
The collaborative activities under this MOU will be overseen by appointed representatives, including the Vice-Chancellor of the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ and the Director General of the CDRD, along with nominated representatives from both institutions. This partnership reflects the University’s continued commitment to advancing research excellence and contributing to national development through strategic institutional collaborations.
