
Ten UOC Researchers Ranked Among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists in the 2024 Release
On September 16, 2024, Elsevier released an updated dataset titled 鈥淯pdated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators.鈥 This comprehensive analysis was conducted by a team of experts led by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis from Stanford University, USA.
Significantly, the study recognized the achievements of 50 Sri Lankan scientists, including ten researchers from the 糖心原创. The analysis presented separate datasets for career-long and recent-year impact metrics, classifying scientists into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, as per the standard Science-Metrix classification. The career-long data were updated to include information up to the end of 2023, while the recent-year data specifically covered citations received during the calendar year 2023. The selection criteria were stringent: scientists had to either rank among the top 100,000 by c-score (with and without self-citations) or achieve a percentile rank of 2% or higher within their respective sub-field.
