German Parliamentarian Ms Ria Schroder Visits UOC
On July 20, 2023, Ms Ria Schroder, a distinguished member of the German Parliament, paid a visit to the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´. During her visit, she engaged in productive discussions with university officials including the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) , the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Senior Professor aiming to explore and strengthen collaborations between German universities and the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´.
A key highlight of her visit was the interactive session held at the Faculty of Arts, where Ms Schroder actively engaged with the staff and students of the Department of International Relations. The session served as a platform to discuss existing and potential collaborations between German universities and the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´. Valuable insights and perspectives were exchanged, fostering a constructive dialogue between Germany and Sri Lanka. One crucial point of discussion was the importance of facilitating various interactions between the universities. Participants emphasized the significance of organizing summer camps, student exchange programs, and German language enrichment courses at the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´.
Ms Schroder acknowledged the suggestions by the staff members regarding conducting awareness programs for DAAD Scholarships. The meeting also delved into the prospect of enhancing tourist-based partnerships between Germany and Sri Lanka. In conclusion, the German delegation and the university community expressed their gratitude for the enriching exchange of ideas.
