The International Women’s Day 2019 celebration organized by the was held on 8^th March 2019 at the College House, Auditorium under the theme “Think Equal – Build Smart – Innovate for Change”. Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe, Non Cabinet Minister of Science, Technology & Research, was the chief guest and the Vice-chancellor Senior Professor , the dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Senior Professor , the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor , the Coordinator of Masters & Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Women’s Studies, Dr Asha Abeyasekera and the other invitees participated in this occasion.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the ����ԭ�� carries the honour of having introduced the first-ever programme in Women’s Studies to the Sri Lankan University system in 1991. The programme continues as a Post-graduate Diploma leading to a Masters in Gender and Women’s Studies. The celebration of “International Women’s Day” is a calendar event at the ����ԭ��.
