Launching Ceremony of two New Sinhala books authored by Senior Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa | Department of Sinhala
The launching ceremony for two new Sinhala books, 喽编窉喽穭喾冟窉喽编穵 喽脆穬喾 喾冟窉喽傕穭喽 喽粪窂喾傕窂喾喾 喽膏稛 喾冟督喽氞窋喽窋, 1948-2023 (Landmarks of Sinhala Language after Independence, 1948-2023) and 喾冟窉喽傕穭喽 喽呧稓喾娻穫喽 喾喾掄侗喾娾嵿逗喾忇穬 喽呧稓喾忇痘喾忇动喾掄逗 (Sinhala Spelling Dictionary – New Edition) authored by Senior Professor (Chair) , Head of the Department of Sinhala, Faculty of Arts took place on February 20, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the New Arts Theatre. Emeritus Professor J. B. Disanayaka chaired the event, while the Vice Chancellor of the University, Senior Professor (Chair) , presided over the occasion as the Chief Guest.
A large audience, including members of the Maha Sangha, several staff and Council members of the 糖心原创, government officials responsible for official language affairs, language scholars, teachers, and students from schools and universities, participated in the event. Mr Karunaratne Paranavithana and Mr Samudra Wettasinghe delivered brief speeches about the two books. The event was organized to commemorate International Mother Language Day celebrations on February 21.
