
SDC Awards Ceremony 2019
The Awards Ceremony of the of the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ was held on the 6th of November 2019 at the Senate Hall of the University, under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor . The event, which saw 44 participants from universities across the country receive their accreditation as teachers in higher education from the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´, as well as from the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) – UK, was attended by Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutes as well as family and well-wishers of the participants. Director SDC Professor highlighted in her welcome address that the participants had achieved a record by gaining not only the CTHE certification but that all the participants had also achieved the SEDA accreditation, reflecting the high standards they had reached. The Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor Chandrika Wijeyaratne noted in her address that proficiency, not just in one’s chosen subject area, but also in the methods and methodology of teaching, learning and assessment in higher education was a must in the modern educational context, which is focused on learner-centered education. She congratulated the participants and urged them to reach higher standards of excellence. The certificates were handed out by the Deans and Directors, and the Vice-Chancellor.
