Stat Day 2018 – 鈥淒ecision Making through Quality Data鈥
The Most Prominent event of the Stat Circle, 鈥Stat Day 2018鈥, was held on 27th of March, 2018 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Main Auditorium, with the Participation of the Chief Guest, The Vice Chancellor, .
The Program consisted of a keynote speech by Mr. Rohana Wijesekera, Director of Statistics, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, a guest speech by Ms. Devini Senaratna, Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer, Roam Analytics Inc., CA, USA, an interactive panel discussion, Memorial Inter-University Quiz Competition, Inter-School Statistics Poster Competition, Inter-School Statistics Quiz Competition and student sessions.
The Evening session of the event was allocated for the Memorial Inter University Quiz Competition. Quiz teams from several state universities took participation for this event. team emerged as the champions of the Memorial Quiz and emerged as the Runners-Up. The Inter School Statistics Poster Competition which was conducted for the schools of Western Province added color to the Event.聽 The Championship of the competition was won by Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 05聽 and Nalanda College and Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College being first and second runners up respectively.
The Inter School Statistics Quiz Competition was another opportunity extended for the School Children of schools in Western Province to widen and showcase their knowledge of statistics. A team of four children participated from each school for the Competition which was held prior to the Stat Day. Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya marked the Championship of the Competition while Nalanda College immersed the Runner up.

Inter University Quiz Partner for the event was Spark – Actuarial and Risk Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. The Printing Partner of the event was Bright PC Technologies and being the Media Partner, the event was covered by Colombo Beacon.
