Strengthening Academic & Professional Collaboration between The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)
A successful meeting was held on 10th September 2025 with the participation of Professor , Vice Chancellor of the University; Professor , Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor , Coordinator of the BSc in Financial Engineering; Professor , Director of Postgraduate Studies; Mr Michael Fernandopulle, Country Head of Sri Lanka of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI); and Mr Nandika Buddhipala, CISI National Advisory Council President and Board Trustee.
The discussions centred on the upcoming presentation of recognition scheduled for Thursday, 9th October at 11:30 am, during the visit of CISI Chairman, Michael Cole-Fontayn. At this event, students who have completed the BSc in Financial Engineering at the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ will be formally recognised with enhanced CISI Associate (ACSI) membership. This initiative is expected to deliver significant benefits to students by providing them with the opportunity to use the ACSI designation, which is internationally recognised across the financial services industry. Additionally, students will gain entry to exclusive CISI events free of charge, providing both knowledge-sharing opportunities and valuable professional networking platforms.
Importantly, this collaboration also lays the foundation for long-term professional growth. Through continuous learning and the pursuit of additional qualifications, graduates can progress through the CISI membership hierarchy, advancing from Associate (ACSI) to Member (MCSI), Chartered Member (Chartered MCSI), and ultimately Chartered Fellow (FCSI) status. This initiative underscores the joint commitment of the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ and CISI to strengthening academic–industry partnerships and equipping future finance professionals in Sri Lanka with the skills, recognition, and global connectivity required to excel in their careers.
